Tera Lensegrav-Benson - Clinical Director
Dr. Lensegrav-Benson has been with Avalon Hills almost from its inception. She trained under the direction of co-founder, Dr. Benita Quakenbush-Roberts, during her doctoral program in 2003. She earned her PhD from Utah State University in the combined Clinical, Counseling and School Doctoral Program. She worked for several years as a Primary Therapist, Lead Therapist and Assistant Director of Patient Services, prior to taking on the role of Director of Patient Services in 2011.
Tera is a very skilled clinician and leader. She handles clinical, staff and facility issues with grace. Her strong work ethic and sensibility is likely a reflection of her upbringing on a South Dakota family cattle ranch. Professionally, Tera is proficient in understanding and using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the treatment of eating disorders. She easily and authentically connects with clients and staff. Tera is also active nationally in training other clinicians in the use of ACT with eating disorders.
One of Tera’s greatest attributes is her positive attitude. She truly believes that recovery is possible and that individuals with eating disorders can heal and thrive in living values-based lives.
Tera loves being a mom and cherishes the time she spends with her husband, two children and beloved pets. As a family, they love skiing, boating, gardening, time in the mountains and creating art.
