Rachel Rood - Lead Dietitian
Rachel began working with Avalon Hills his as a Registered Dietitcian in 2009. She has worked as a Dietitian for over 20 years and her skill and experience is appreciated and used extensively at Avalon Hills.
Rachel earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Utah State University. She is a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a certified dietitian with the state of Utah. Rachel’s primary responsibilities are to assess the nutritional needs of clients and provide and implement recommendations for nutritional rehabilitation, as part of the therapeutic intervention. Rachel realizes there isn’t a ‘one-size-fits-all’ dietary approach to the treatment of eating disorders. She is able to think creatively about individualized approaches and interventions. She excels in helping clients develop healthy relationships with food.
Rachel finds fulfillment in helping clients “get their lives back” as the re-connect with family and friends. She enjoys watching as clients move through the progressive steps of recovery.
In her leisure time, Rachel loves spending time with her husband and three daughters. They enjoy traveling, going to movies and playing games. She is active in her church and enjoys working with youth and playing the piano and organ.
