Shalane Christensen, BS, LPN

Shalane joined Avalon Hills as an LPN in November 2014 and eventually stepped into the role of Lead Nurse in December 2021. Before her decade at Avalon, she worked as a nurse in a skilled nursing facility, acute care, doctor’s offices, and home health care. Shalane explains she was taught the value of hard work from a very young age. She spent summers working in pizza joints and a chocolate shop in Garden City, Utah adjacent to beautiful Bear Lake.

Shalane graduated from Idaho State University College of Technology in 2009.

With Avalon, Shalane values open and honest communication with patients, their families, and her coworkers. She believes that effective communication is essential for the team to work together toward the shared goal of patient recovery. Shalane enjoys the challenges that come her way at Avalon. She is passionate about helping residents achieve recovery and values the collaborative, team-oriented approach, describing it as “it takes a village, and I couldn’t be more proud to be part of Avalon.” She expresses enjoyment in seeing the difference in patients from their arrival to their recovery and graduation from the program, calling it “absolutely the coolest thing ever.”

Outside of work, Shalane enjoys spending time with her dogs, attending live concerts, picking huckleberries from a patch in Idaho, or spending time in Yellowstone and the Tetons. She also spends much of her time with her three nephews, Carter, Logan, and Matix.
