Talya Black, BA

Talya has been teaching art in various positions in the Cache Valley Area since 2018. She started at Avalon Hills in 2019. She got her teaching license through Utah State University and graduated with an Art Education Degree with a focus on drawing and painting.

During her time working at Avalon, she got married and started a family. Avalon has been her most consistent position to work in and now gets a much-needed break from the littles while working.

Talya is a hard-working mom and loves to be with her little family when she’s not working. She is usually found outside with them or visiting friends. Talya is a social butterfly and thrives off of connections. She loves making handmade books (both sketch and watercolor) for her small business, along with many art forms and mediums. There is nothing more rewarding than making something from scratch every step of the way.

If there is anything that Talya has learned, it is better said by Georgia O’Keeffe, “Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing.” Talya believes that there is an artist just waiting to create in every single one of us, whether you believe it or not. She knows that art is not something you just have or just do. It takes time and work just like anything else you are good at. Everyone could use a fresh start and no better way to start than taking that risk and jumping right into it.
